Valentino Relocates, Expands in the Galleria

AS THE LIGHT at the end of the Covid tunnel brightens, and people feel increasingly comfortable resuming previously "normal" activities — like shopping at an indoor mall, sans anxiety — one luxury brand has unveiled its beautifully expanded boutique.

Earlier this month, Valentino relocated within the Galleria, to a larger, 4,000-square-foot space. The new interior is outfitted in luxe materials like gray Venetian terrazzo flooring, with accents of walnut and kilim wool. The combination complements the collection of womenswear and menswear, displayed on sleek, black metal, LED-illuminated shelving hung on fluted gypsum panels, and geometric rugs add a dynamic pop.

Guests can try on Valentino's ready-to-wear apparel in an equally beautiful, textured dressing room, featuring plush velvet in shades of green and blush.

The new boutique is located on level one, near Neiman Marcus.

'Is that how you treat your house guest'

ARTIST KAIMA MARIE’S solo exhibit For the record (which opens today at Art Is Bond) invites the viewer into a multiverse of beloved Houston landmarks, presented in dizzying Cubist perspectives. There are ornate interior spaces filled with paintings, books and records — all stuff we use to document and preserve personal, family and collective histories; and human figures, including members of Marie’s family, whose presence adds yet another quizzical layer to these already densely packed works. This isn’t art you look at for 15-30 seconds before moving on to the next piece; there’s a real pleasure in being pulled into these large-scale photo collages, which Marie describes as “puzzles without a reference image.”
