Houston is full of uniquely fab, fashionable, locally made gift ideas — like these new beauty kits designed and created by artist Shelbi Nicole and makeup guru Andrea Simmons.

The limited-edition holiday makeup sets include five products and a makeup bag and mirror with art by Shelbi Nicole, who’s known for her murals around town as well as her Whimsy World immersive gallery in EaDo, which went viral earlier this year. “She’s a close friend of mine, so we are always trying to find new ways to work together and promote each other,” says Simmons, who toasts the one-year anniversary of her FaceForward cosmetics line on Black Friday.

The eye set, which comes in either warm or cool tones, includes both shimmer and matte shadows, a gel eyeliner pencil and FaceForward’s XLXL mascara in black; the red-and-gold and pink lip kits come with two glosses, a waterproof gel liner, mineral blush and a fun, jumbo-size sheer lip crayon. “When I see makeup kits or eyeshadow palettes, I always wonder what the consumer will actually use,” says Simmons. “We put a lot of thought into the products in these bags, and really wanted to include pieces that could be used year-round.”

The kits are available online (ffcosmetics.com and shelbinicole.com) — and keep an eye out for lots of holiday pop-ups!
