Perennial philanthropists Sue and Lester Smith, along with Neil and Maria Bush, hosted the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s annual Celebration of Reading kickoff event. Meanwhile, the long-term disaster-recovery organization SBP hosted its first-ever Answering the Call fundraiser, with an impressive list of honorary chairs that included Paige and Tilman Fertitta, Hannah and Cal McNair, Margaret Alkek Williams and others.
