Glow for It, Houston: OVME Is Now Open

DESPITE QUARANTINES, FACE masks and inclement weather, aesthetic medical services are perhaps more popular than ever. In fact, according to reports, the pandemic has caused a boom in demand for plastic surgery, injectables and the like; dermatologists are seeing a record number of patients and mounting waitlists.

So perhaps it comes as little surprise that there's been a recent boom in medical spas and medical services in Houston. The latest national brand with a cult following to join the Houston ranks is OVME (pronounced "of me"), now open at the Centre in River Oaks (3021 Kirby Dr.). Beloved by influencers and celebrities alike, such as Tinsley Mortimer, Colin Egglesfield and Uche Nwosu, the brand hails from Chicago, and has in six other studios in cities across the U.S.

OVME is known for its luxurious medical services and techy approach to cosmetic services. For one, every single customer gets a skin analysis by VISIA, a state-of-the-art machine that captures UV photography and provides a complete assessment of sun damage, skin texture, wrinkles and more. "For OVME, it's all about providing our clients with superior cosmetic outcomes, every time," says Dr. Mark McKenna, founder and CEO of OVME. "I'm absolutely thrilled to bring OVME to Houston, one of the most vibrant, culturally diverse cities in America."

In true Texas fashion, the Houston flagship is the brand's largest location to date. The sleek, contemporary studio has 10 treatment rooms, including ones dedicated to laser procedures and hydration therapy. The brand's approach to medical spa services is focused on confidence-boosting natural and youthful results. Among the most popular offerings are Botox, derma fillers, laser resurfacing, photo facials, HydraFacials, and Vivace, a new machine offering the latest in radiofrequency microneedling. This minimally-invasive treatment stimulates the natural production of collagen and is shown to be effective in alleviating facial wrinkles, fine lines, and tightening and toning the face and neck.

OVME's skincare boutique features a curated roster of products from brands like SkinMedicaand Revision, along with OVME's own line of medical-grade products.

Says McKenna, "We believe the women and men of Houston are ready to experience OVME's brand of intentional, highly curated medical aesthetic products and services."

Jacob Hilton, a.k.a. Travid Halton, at home in his kitchen, where he enjoys cooking as a form of therapy.

PINK FLOYD'S THE Wall. Sinatra’s In the Wee Small Hours. Beyonce’s Lemonade. Three divergent examples of the album as a cathartic, psychological, conceptual work, meant to be experienced in a single sitting. Houston singer-songwriter Jacob Hilton, 37, who records as Travid Halton, a portmanteau of his mother and father’s names, might balk at being mentioned in such company. (This is a thoroughly unpretentious man, who describes himself as an “archaeologist turned singer-songwriter.”)

How did you get to where you are today? The present moment is a combined history of my family, my time as an athlete, my passion for learning, and my desire to see the world be better. I grew up as a successful springboard and platform diver, however, an injury caused me to seek alternative treatments to heal my body. In that process, I discovered the power of yoga, exercise, meditation, mindset, and nutrition. This holistic approach eventually led me to open a Pilates and cycling studio called DEFINE body & mind. I opened studios around the nation, and after selling most of my business between 2017-2019, I was ready to explore how I could make an even greater impact on the wellbeing of our community. In 2023, I started actively working on a brand new multi-family/apartment concept called, Define Living. The idea focused on offering health and wellness services within a beautiful apartment setting to increase the wellbeing of our residents. Having a strong sense of community is the number one factor in living a happy life, so why not build a community where daily fitness, cooking classes, and social connection are the norm? We opened Define Living in March of 2024, and we couldn’t be happier with how things are being received. We are already looking at building more concepts like this in the Houston area and beyond.
