Downtown dwellers have a new go-to in Wells Fargo Plaza. Open from 7am-7pm, Adair Downtown is an adorably appointed, multifaceted restaurant: There’s a gourmet coffee bar, a grab-and-go market with sandwiches and hot lunches, a sit-down restaurant, and a cocktail area — with a showpiece white marble waterfall bar — that spills out onto an outdoor patio. 1000 Louisiana St., 713.554.0006

Guilt-free comfort food? Anything is possible — especially at the still-new Ember & Greens in Memorial. Globally inspired, scratch-made plates for lunch and dinner incorporate ingredients from local purveyors, and include items like picadillo samosas. 9403B Katy Freeway, 713.465.3333

SusieCakes and JuiceLand are the latest businesses to join Mod Pizza, Antone’s, Roti Modern Mediterranean and more in a strip situated at the base of the new Westin hotel on Fannin at Dryden, adding a much-needed array of fast-casual dining options for Med Center personnel, patients and residents.

New-to-Houston Mendocino Farms is embracing Rodeo season with a big yee-haw! All three locations will serve the Black Tie Brisket Club, dreamed up with Chef Ara Malekian of Harlem Road Texas Barbecue, beginning Feb. 25. The creation features brisket, bacon, white truffle aioli, pickled red onions and arugula on an onion-challah bun. One dollar from each sandwich sold will go to the Rodeo’s Educational Fund.

Time for the brunch broadcast! Popular patio bar Postino (642 Yale St., 346.223.1111; 805 Pacific St., 713.388.6767) has reinvented its brunch menu. An unexpected must-have among 10 new small plates is the cantaloupe and straccieatella: Balls of melon are topped with globs of distefano stracciatella cheese, fresh basil and a sweet-and-sour agrodolce sauce. Meanwhile, Upper Kirby-area Relish Restaurant & Bar (2810 Westheimer Rd., 713.599.1960) has launched Sunday brunch from 10am-3pm, with happy-hour pricing all day. Expect supremely well executed classics, including hot-honey-chicken biscuits. Finally, Picos on Kirby (3601 Kirby Dr., 832.831.9940) has revamped its weekend brunch menu, which now includes items like the chipotle-florentine benedict and the generously portioned Paella Valencia for Two.

Less than a year after opening Killen’s Steakhouse in The Woodlands, prolific pitmaster Ronnie Killen has announced plans to open a barbecue outpost nearby, in Shenendoah. Throughout the spring, he’ll pop up inside the Loop with previews of his simply named Killen’s, which will occupy the former Hickory Hollow building off Wash Ave later this year.

Beloved pizza joint Home Slice, which has been a staple in Austin for 15 years, will debut its first location outside of ATX in Midtown — but pizza lovers will have to wait a little while. Since it won’t open until 2021, Houstonians can spend the next year working up an appetite for Home Slice’s pies, subs and salads. 3701 Travis St.

Fall Philanthropy Report: Urban Harvest Farmers Market Helps ‘Transform Food Accessibility’

What year was your organization launched? Urban Harvest’s Saturday Farmers Market started in 2004 with just seven vendors, providing an outlet for local farms, community and backyard gardeners to sell fresh produce harvested directly from their soils. Now in its 20th year, the market has grown to be one of the largest markets in Texas, supporting over 100 local farmers, ranchers, and food artisans all from within 180 miles of Houston.
