Barrel Into This Award-Winning Hotel’s Luxe Rodeo Outpost

HOUSTON IS BUZZING with Rodeo fever, and the theme has taken everything over, from apparel to cocktails. If you’d rather dodge the traffic, crowds and parking of the HLSR at NRG Stadium, mosey on over to The Post Oak Hotel.

Its Rodeo Saloon is open Thursday-Sunday through March 17, featuring western-inspired craft cocktails and light southern bites including Rodeo Uncorked double gold winners. In Tilman Fertitta fashion, the festive atmosphere comes complete with western-chic décor and live music.

Heading out to NRG Stadium? Let the friendly folks in the saloon get you spiffed up for the occasion. Complimentary hat steaming and boot shining services are on the ready, so grab your partner and step right up. If you didn’t dress the part, get decked out in western styles available from 29° North in the hotel.

Other Rodeo-themed events will be taking place at The Post Oak Hotel including a mock Rodeo Uncorked blind tasting experience March 5 and 12. Wear your tasting boots, as guests will sample eight different wines and decipher which three won awards at the international competition. Speaking of wine, the exclusive pinot noir label crafted by Stella’s Wine Bar sommelier team won Top 3 at the Rodeo Uncorked! HLS Rodeo International Wine Competition. But you be the judge, go taste it for yourself in the saloon.

Additional fun events are on tap this month. Cowboy & Pony Whiskey & Beer Pairings takes place March 7 (5-7pm) with a special menu. March 14 (5-7pm), is Viva El Tequila Night featuring top tequilas with one complimentary beverage per guest. Close out the Rodeo Saloon by celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, featuring a special beverage menu and other activities. Don’t forget to wear green!

Details for all events can be found here.

Saba Syed, Founder of Oasis Moroccan Bath

How did you get to where you are today? My journey began with a need to be financially independent and an even a deeper drive to create a lasting legacy. The centuries-old Hammam tradition has always fascinated me—not just for its relaxation benefits, but for its holistic approach to cleansing the body, mind, and soul. So, combining my passion with a vision to bring an authentic yet luxurious Hammam spa experience to Houston, I took the leap less than two years ago to open my own spa.

Jacob Hilton, a.k.a. Travid Halton, at home in his kitchen, where he enjoys cooking as a form of therapy.

PINK FLOYD'S THE Wall. Sinatra’s In the Wee Small Hours. Beyonce’s Lemonade. Three divergent examples of the album as a cathartic, psychological, conceptual work, meant to be experienced in a single sitting. Houston singer-songwriter Jacob Hilton, 37, who records as Travid Halton, a portmanteau of his mother and father’s names, might balk at being mentioned in such company. (This is a thoroughly unpretentious man, who describes himself as an “archaeologist turned singer-songwriter.”)
