Here Are the Most Expensive Homes Sold in Houston Last Month

3723 Knollwood Street

TWO MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR mansions flew off the market the very day they were listed. Lovingly restored and expanded homes in River Oaks went for top-dollar. These were some of the headlines about the most expensive homes sold in Houston last month — a month during which housing inventory remained constrained, down by 53 percent compared to May 2020, and prices continued to climb, up more than 27 percent during the same timeframe. Check out some other (rather stunning) snapshots from the May market's luxury sector below!

832 Kuhlman Road

832 Kuhlman Road Listed for just shy of $11 million, this six-bed, 10-bath property — spread across three buildings, including a nearly 12,000-square-foot main home — sits on two acres in the heart of Memorial, near Duchesne Academy. Contemporary design elements are coupled with traditional finishes to create a one-of-a-kind, grand-scale estate; the vaulted ceilings in the kitchen and owner's suite are especially stunning.

3723 Knollwood Street A five-bedroom mid-century-mod masterpiece in River Oaks, listed for just under $7 mil, took around six months to sell. The low-slung brick exterior looks subdued, but inside, the previous owner decked out the 7,000 square feet with stunning modern art and glam décor. Glitzy light fixtures and glossy walls — mostly white, except the lacquered black library, the only room located upstairs — create a unique aesthetic that the new owners are sure to dig.

3208 Chevy Chase Drive

3208 Chevy Chase Drive This 1937-built, 9,000-square-footer on Chevy Chase Drive listed for $7 mil and sold in just one week. The Moore + Lloyd home was taken down to the studs and remodeled, and also expanded to include amenities like an exercise room and four-car garage. The media room has glass doors that lead out to the summer kitchen and pool area, making it an entertainer's paradise — now that we're all starting to entertain again, that is.

755 Marchmont Drive

755 Marchmont Drive A new build in Piney Point Village, listed at $5.95 million, sold in just under two months. The six-bed, nine-bath property boasts a butler's pantry with a wine vault, and a game room (one of two game rooms, actually) that comes with a golf-simulator system pre-installed. The owner's suite is complete with a covetable closet with sky-high ceilings, and has a next-door fitness center with a secondary private bathroom.

3389 Inwood Drive

3389 Inwood Drive This old-school estate, built in 1937 on a corner lot in River Oaks and listed for $6.7 million, also sold in less than two months. The floor plan is extremely livable, with logically arranged and well proportioned rooms ensuring that all family members have a spot to call their own. (Even the laundry room is smartly appointed!)

2330 River Oaks Boulevard

2330 River Oaks Boulevard Another River Oaks address, this one coming in at just under $5 mil, was among the highest-priced properties that sold last month. The small-ish front yard is a bit deceptive; walk all the way through the 6,800-square-foot home — including its open kitchen, window-lined sunroom and game room complete with its own kitchenette — to find a lush backyard oasis.

337 Folwell Lane

337 Folwell Lane Listed for just under $4.5 million, a Memorial manse sold the very day it hit the market. The new-construction, smart-home-savvy stunner, situated on a cul-de-sac in Bunker Hill Village, boasts a very livable mix of contemporary and industrial-chic design elements, and also comes with not one but two elevators, and a glassed-in wine room that catches the eye immediately upon entry through the towering black front doors.

61 Briar Hollow Lane

61 Briar Hollow Lane A 1.7-acre swath of land abutting Buffalo Bayou across 610 from Uptown Park was listed for $5.9 million, and while it took a year to sell, a lucky builder undoubtedly will score big with future developments. The property, which came with two "as-is" residential structures, overlooks the grounds of the Houston Arboretum.

2626 Pemberton Drive

2626 Pemberton Drive Two weeks is all it took for this West U beauty, listed for $3.8 mil, to fly off the market. The five-bed, seven-bath painted-brick home was built in 2014, and comes with impeccably designed interiors by J. Randall Powers. All five of the bedrooms are situated upstairs, and each comes with its own en-suite bathrooms. Covid-era homeowners should be well set-up thanks to a pair of home offices and a resort-style pool and patio.

11914 Broken Bough Drive

11914 Broken Bough Drive Same story, different house: This Memorial-area home, located a mile from the one on Folwell, also sold the day it hit the market with a list price of $3.6 million. The new build by Armo Custom Homes features five bedrooms, including a master with a fireplace and its own entertainment center.

Thrive & Inspire: ‘Results for Clients’ in Oil and Gas Drives Michelman & Robinson’s Varnado

Lauren Varnado, Houston Office Managing Partner at Michelman & Robinson, LLP and sought-after oil and gas lawyer

WHAT WAS THE highlight of 2022 at your business? That’s easy, launching Michelman & Robinson in Houston was, for me, the absolute high point of 2022 — and that’s in a year that included so many highlights. Without question, being named the firm’s Houston Office Managing Partner is and was a professional milestone that I’m so very proud of. That I’ve already been able to expand the office to 10 of us (and growing) and significantly move the needle in terms of the firm’s reach within the energy space is icing on the cake.

How did you get to where you are today? The present moment is a combined history of my family, my time as an athlete, my passion for learning, and my desire to see the world be better. I grew up as a successful springboard and platform diver, however, an injury caused me to seek alternative treatments to heal my body. In that process, I discovered the power of yoga, exercise, meditation, mindset, and nutrition. This holistic approach eventually led me to open a Pilates and cycling studio called DEFINE body & mind. I opened studios around the nation, and after selling most of my business between 2017-2019, I was ready to explore how I could make an even greater impact on the wellbeing of our community. In 2023, I started actively working on a brand new multi-family/apartment concept called, Define Living. The idea focused on offering health and wellness services within a beautiful apartment setting to increase the wellbeing of our residents. Having a strong sense of community is the number one factor in living a happy life, so why not build a community where daily fitness, cooking classes, and social connection are the norm? We opened Define Living in March of 2024, and we couldn’t be happier with how things are being received. We are already looking at building more concepts like this in the Houston area and beyond.

How did you get to where you are today? A few key principles integrated into my life: setting clear goals, maintaining a growth mindset, building strong habits, and surrounding myself with the right people. Goals provided direction, while a growth mindset helped me turn challenges into opportunities for learning. Consistent habits, like disciplined work and effective communication, kept me moving forward. Being surrounded by motivated, supportive individuals has elevated my standards and kept me accountable. They’ve provided advice, encouragement, and sometimes that extra push I needed to stay on track. With these elements, I’ve been able to create a framework that helps me succeed and ensures I continue to grow and evolve.
