Here’s Your Peek Inside Star Athletes’ Houston Homes, on the Market Now

9310 Memorial Drive

A HOUSTON REAL estate company has launched a new division, and in its announcement, revealed two exclusive listings of homes belonging to two star athletes.

Nan & Company’s new Sports and Entertainment group will provide concierge-style services to athletes and entertainers wishing to lease or sell their Houston properties. Two of its first listings are the Memorial Villages home belonging to former Astros fan fave Yuli Gurriel, who now plays for the Miami Marlins, and the Galleria-area residence of Garrison Matthews, a.k.a. Garry Bird, the Atlanta Hawks forward who used to play for the Rockets.

Matthews’ three-story townhome, which is already under contract, has a sweet rooftop pool and bar area, and downstairs, which boasts 16-foot sliding glass doors to transform the whole first floor into an entertaining paradise. Bonus? “No HOA!” says the listing.

Meanwhile, Gurriel’s warmly modern, sprawling ranch-style home at 9310 Memorial Drive is situated on a half acre. It will list for $1.7 million.

“With this new division we will serve a very important niche market that is a hybrid of real estate and luxury personalized services,” said Nancy Almodovar, CEO of Nan & Company Properties, who founded the business nearly 10 years ago. “We pride ourselves in our in-depth understanding of our luxury market’s neighborhoods, flexibility to accommodate one’s busy schedules, tech-enabled virtual showings and meetings, and an ability to connect with liaisons, all with the utmost discretion.”

WHEN IT OPENED a few months ago, The Woodlands outpost of acclaimed Katy restaurant Phat Eatery was billed as Alex Au-Yeung's dream restaurant. Unfortunately, Au-Yeung never got to see it come to fruition, as he passed away earlier this year. But the James Beared-nominated chef-owner certainly left his mark — and in honor of what would be his 53rd birthday, operating partners Kevin Lee and Marvin He have organized two pop-up tribute dinners.
