Fast-Expanding Skincare Shop Bows in River Oaks Today with Premium Products — and Major Membership Perks

THE RIVER OAKS Shopping Center is now home to Houston's first Heyday, a national chain of skincare boutiques offering membership-based discounts on products and services.

Heyday opens today, which happens to be 713 Day, on West Gray near Shepherd. It promises to "take the guesswork out of skincare," with customizable 50-minute facials and shopping guidance from estheticians.

Upon entering the minimalist yet approachable store, clients are greeted with chilled lemon water and a beautiful display of colorful products from high-end brands like Supergoop!, Tata Harper, Osea, Ursa Major and others. Those who have booked a facial treatment are ushered back to an open-concept area where curtains section off eight different treatment rooms. Licensed estheticians perform a skin analysis and proceed to incorporate various steps like extractions, exfoliation, masking and massage; customers can also opt for enhancements like microdermabrasion, gua sha, LED light therapy, or hydrofacial.

In line with the company's ethos of making skincare accessible and habitual, there's no undressing or warm foot bath here. Instead, clients climb into a deluxe recliner, not unlike one seen in a dentist's office, that's covered loosely in boho-chic tasseled fabric. This sets the tone for a facial that is relaxing not due to soothing spa music, but rather because of the simple, not-overwhelming approach to skincare. Esthies here understand that not everyone can do a multi-step skincare routine twice a day, and offer practical product recommendations accordingly.

In that same vein, Heyday's membership program is "designed to support your skin's monthly renewal cycle," and each month's fee ($114) includes a personalized facial, 50 percent off any enhancements, and a range of discounts on products. Additional facials can be tacked on for $85 each. Not ready to commit? Non-members can easily book a consultation and facial for $135. Plus! Right now, new clients can get their first treatment for just $70.

Leadership in Action: ‘Family, Community and Spiritual Connection’ Drives Success for Henry Richardson

How did you get to where you are today? The present moment is a combined history of my family, my time as an athlete, my passion for learning, and my desire to see the world be better. I grew up as a successful springboard and platform diver, however, an injury caused me to seek alternative treatments to heal my body. In that process, I discovered the power of yoga, exercise, meditation, mindset, and nutrition. This holistic approach eventually led me to open a Pilates and cycling studio called DEFINE body & mind. I opened studios around the nation, and after selling most of my business between 2017-2019, I was ready to explore how I could make an even greater impact on the wellbeing of our community. In 2023, I started actively working on a brand new multi-family/apartment concept called, Define Living. The idea focused on offering health and wellness services within a beautiful apartment setting to increase the wellbeing of our residents. Having a strong sense of community is the number one factor in living a happy life, so why not build a community where daily fitness, cooking classes, and social connection are the norm? We opened Define Living in March of 2024, and we couldn’t be happier with how things are being received. We are already looking at building more concepts like this in the Houston area and beyond.

Photographer Jhane Hoang with two covers she photographed

ONE OF Houston CityBook’s most beloved photographers was recently diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer. Jhane Hoang has been behind the camera for some of the magazine’s most ambitious shoots — including an overnight shoot at the then-new Weiss Energy Hall at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and a cold rainy shoot at the Houston Zoo where the crew used a concessions stand as a staging area for hair and makeup.
