The Procrastinator’s Guide to Father’s Day Wining and Dining

Feges BBQ

HAVEN’T PLANNED ANYTHING for Father’s Day on Sunday? Steak, bourbon and rib-sticking classics like Tex-Mex come to mind when planning a satisfying meal out for Dad. But there are all kinds of fathers out there, so find something for everyone in our round-up.

CRU Food & Wine Bar

CRU

Dads like brunch too! And many love wine, so reserve ahead at this handy neighborhood wine bar for chef-driven fare paired with the perfect vino. On the menu, look for smoked salmon, classic steak and eggs, and asparagus risotto.

Feges BBQ

Fire up Dad’s Day at the Spring Branch outpost of this family favorite on June 18 for a day of BBQ, drinks and fun for the whole gang. Miss Kathy's will be serving snowballs, there will be plenty of activities and snacks to entertain the kiddos, and drink specials for the adults. Order the Feges BBQ platter with brisket, ribs, turkey, sausage and your choice of 3 sides and dessert ($50), or a Father's-Day-only two-meat plate with 2 sides ($20).

The award-winning concept from Underbelly Hospitality is known for a mouthwatering selection of cast-iron-seared steaks, which will be available along with a few one-day-only specials. Executive Chef Greg Peters’ menu includes starters like stone crab claws and roasted quail stuffed with braised wild boar. Consider Dad-approved entrees like a 14-ounce prime rib sourced from 44 Farms (pho spiced au jus, wilted Swiss chard, fresh grated horseradish), or antelope tenderloin and frites.

Dish Society

Dish Society's Breggy Bomb burger

All locations of Dish Society as well as sister restaurant Daily Gather will each offer a version of a special burger featuring Astros third baseman Alex Bregman’s winning Breggy Bomb BBQ sauce. Daily Gather’s double Breggy Bomb burger is topped with Swamp Sauce-slathered brisket, bacon sharp Cheddar and crispy onion strings on a potato bun — and served with fries, naturally ($22).

Hamsa

Hamsa’s Abba special pairs the ideal duo: a hangar steak and an Old Fashioned cocktail ($55). Popular sides at the modern Israeli restaurant include hummus, turmeric potatoes and cauliflower couscous.

Hidden Omakase

Hidden Omakase is offering a bonus course for adventurous papas who come in on Father’s Day: an A5 Wagyu Larb hand roll. Other chef-chosen surprises might include foie gras, otoro or ebi. There are only two seatings per night so snag a spot via Resy ($175/person).

Loch Bar

Loch Bar

If the father-figure in your life is a seafood lover, lock in reservations at swanky Loch Bar in the River Oaks District. In celebration of the holiday, the restaurant will be serving a special Surf and Turf for $70, featuring an eight-ounce filet and crispy lobster tail with bourbon brown butter. The seafood tower is a festive choice for the table to share.

Los Tios

Guests can dig into a Tex-Mex Father’s Day breakfast from 10am-2pm with favorites like Los Tios omelet, stack of pancakes and migas, plus a Michelada on special for $6. Or come for dinner and kick things off with a frozen ’rita.

Pappas Bros. Steakhouse

Ribeye at Pappas Bros.

Both locations will be open for dinner on Father’s Day — or give your wine-loving dad the ultimate gift by reserving a spot for the annual Dads & Cabs wine tasting events, at all steakhouse locations. Expect a lineup of world class cabernets hand-selected by Pappas' team of trained sommeliers. Guests can expect to taste at least 12 expressions of cabernets from around the world. Two locations and two dates, $150 per person: Houston Galleria, June 15, 5:30-7pm and Houston Downtown, June 16, 5:30-7pm.

Xochi
