The Procrastinator’s Guide to Father’s Day Wining and Dining

Feges BBQ

HAVEN’T PLANNED ANYTHING for Father’s Day on Sunday? Steak, bourbon and rib-sticking classics like Tex-Mex come to mind when planning a satisfying meal out for Dad. But there are all kinds of fathers out there, so find something for everyone in our round-up.

CRU Food & Wine Bar

CRU

Dads like brunch too! And many love wine, so reserve ahead at this handy neighborhood wine bar for chef-driven fare paired with the perfect vino. On the menu, look for smoked salmon, classic steak and eggs, and asparagus risotto.

Feges BBQ

Fire up Dad’s Day at the Spring Branch outpost of this family favorite on June 18 for a day of BBQ, drinks and fun for the whole gang. Miss Kathy's will be serving snowballs, there will be plenty of activities and snacks to entertain the kiddos, and drink specials for the adults. Order the Feges BBQ platter with brisket, ribs, turkey, sausage and your choice of 3 sides and dessert ($50), or a Father's-Day-only two-meat plate with 2 sides ($20).

The award-winning concept from Underbelly Hospitality is known for a mouthwatering selection of cast-iron-seared steaks, which will be available along with a few one-day-only specials. Executive Chef Greg Peters’ menu includes starters like stone crab claws and roasted quail stuffed with braised wild boar. Consider Dad-approved entrees like a 14-ounce prime rib sourced from 44 Farms (pho spiced au jus, wilted Swiss chard, fresh grated horseradish), or antelope tenderloin and frites.

Dish Society

VERDANT, WINDING BRANCHES arch up and over a pathway as a soundtrack of herons and chachalacas (and the occasional monkey) plays overhead. Concrete rectangles artfully jut up through the green, painted in rays of sunlight. Eventually, the path leads down to the beach, where the streaks of sun create a cinematic moment: A slim, tan couple emerges from the ocean with their surfboards in hand and their dogs at their heels, the scent of the Pacific lingering in the thick, humid air.
