Postino

DINE-IN FUN

Postino Postino’s Old Skool Hippity-Hop Brunch is perfect for those who may not have an egg hunt on the agenda, but still want to get out and celebrate the season. Expect an extended brunch on Easter Sunday 9am-3pm, with your favorite old-school, ’90s hip-hop and R&B tracks, and a specialty $6 seasonal cocktail. All four Houston locations will be featuring live, vinyl DJs.

Hugo’s In Montrose, celebrate Easter Sunday with an elaborate Mexican buffet while hearing the sounds of house band, Viento. Famously popular for its brunch, Hugo’s Easter version will include seasonal selections, a carving station and special desserts from 10am-2:30pm.

BB Lemon This brunch go-to will be open 11am-3pm with DJ 9th Sage spinning tunes on the patio. Favorite dishes include blue crab beignets, watermelon salad, limoncello pancakes, banana-pudding French toast, and cornbread waffles topped with pulled pork.

Feges BBQ Feges BBQ is on a roll with an Easter egg hunt and crawfish boil for the whole family April 16, 11am-3pm. Besides the hunt, kiddos can enjoy pictures with the Easter bunny and games — and for the parents, live music performed by John Egan from 1-3pm.

DESSERTS

Montrose Cheese & Wine Executive pastry chef Shawn Gawle is baking up scrumptious Honey Cakes for pre-sale this Easter. Light and layered, each cake is beautifully crowned with a beaded meringue and delicate flowers. All proceeds from the 6- or 8-inch cakes will be donated to No Kid Hungry. Hurry: pre-sale ends April 13!

Dessert Gallery This Upper Kirby institution has all the bases covered with Easter cookies, artfulcakes and Passover treats. Hand-decorated Easter butter cookies, Easter cupcakes and carrot cake (even by the slice!) are all tempting. The Jewish-owned bakery also provides a wide array of Passover style delights including The Chosen Cheesecake: a strawberry cheesecake garnished with fresh berries on top of a white chocolate cheesecake layer made with matzo-meal crust.

Badolina Bakery In Rice Village, Badolina offers an extensive menu of breads, sweet pastries, tons of scrumptious cookies, and savory Open Foccacia. Whole cakes require 24-hour notice, and are available in flavors such as Raspberry Rose, dairy-free and gluten-free Orange Cake, and the showstopping Waves Cake.

NoPo Café, Market & Bar NoPo will be closed on Easter Sunday, but is accepting pre-orders for festive Easter cookies and darling mini carrot cakes with cream-cheese frosting, available for pickup by April 16. Note the restaurant is open Friday, April 15 for lunch and dinner and Saturday, April 16 for brunch and dinner.

How did you get to where you are today? A few key principles integrated into my life: setting clear goals, maintaining a growth mindset, building strong habits, and surrounding myself with the right people. Goals provided direction, while a growth mindset helped me turn challenges into opportunities for learning. Consistent habits, like disciplined work and effective communication, kept me moving forward. Being surrounded by motivated, supportive individuals has elevated my standards and kept me accountable. They’ve provided advice, encouragement, and sometimes that extra push I needed to stay on track. With these elements, I’ve been able to create a framework that helps me succeed and ensures I continue to grow and evolve.

TO QUOTE THE wee one in Poltergeist: “They’re baaaaack!” Houston’s beloved gothic and girl-powered pop-up The Cursed Cauldron returns Friday, Oct. 4 to Aero Cocktail Co. in River Oaks. The new Aero Cocktail Co. will host the pop-up Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 4pm-12am, and Sundays 2pm-10pm. To help contribute to the spooky (and fun) vibe, visitors are invited to “don their magical attire;” kohl eyeliner and black nail polish are strongly recommended.
