Supporters of the Memorial Park Conservancy hit the trails and headed to the Forest Club for the organization’s annual Picnic for the Park event. Organic, free-flowing florals and a menu of comfort-food classics spoke to fun-loving and laid-back nature of the event, which also championed the progress of Memorial Park’s master-planned makeover. Meanwhile, an intimate dinner catered by Swift + Company toasted Rienzi’s 20th year as a part of the MFAH. Rienzi Society members contributed nearly a quarter-million dollars toward the acquisition of two 18th-century antiques.

Perennial philanthropists Sue and Lester Smith, along with Neil and Maria Bush, hosted the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s annual Celebration of Reading kickoff event. Meanwhile, the long-term disaster-recovery organization SBP hosted its first-ever Answering the Call fundraiser, with an impressive list of honorary chairs that included Paige and Tilman Fertitta, Hannah and Cal McNair, Margaret Alkek Williams and others.

Farm Girls Supper Club founders Marcia Smart, Courtney Paddock and Kelley Sullivan Low welcomed around 100 Houstonians to a pop-up dinner benefiting the Buffalo Bayou Partnership. The event, featuring flowing seasonal centerpieces by Maria Maxit and family-style dishes like hearty lamb-shank stew with polenta, was held at Allen’s Landing. Nearby, Houston Ballet supporters celebrated the return of the company to the Wortham with the Jubilee of Dance onstage dinner.
