THE HEAT IS on, Houston. But fortunately for all of us, so are some of the year's best happy-hour deals. Spotted: ice-cold margs, live music, and dollar oysters. Read on for deets!

Arnaldo Richards' Picos

Picos' Paloma

Happy hour at this Mexican-food classic is all day on Mondays and Tuesdays, and from 3-6pm on Wednesdays through Fridays. Snag tacos al pastor for $12, and cocktails like a shaker margarita or refreshing Paloma for $8. Beers are just $4!

For an hour on weekdays (4-5pm, Mon.-Thurs.), 10 of the fine-dining trendsetter's perfectly crafted cocktails are only $10.

East River 9

Street tacos at Riverhouse

The East End golf course (also with driving range, putting green and pickle ball!) is hosting a summer music series on Friday and Saturday nights through August. From 7-9pm at East River 9's Riverhouse restaurant, enjoy free live music on the outdoor terrace, a perfect spot to also partake in newly appointed culinary director AJ Junnarkar's expanded menu of American classics.

Eunice

At this Upper Kirby Cajun spot, happy hour is every day! From 3-6pm, all bevs are 30 percent off, and Gulf oysters are $1.50 a pop. Tack on additional bar snacks priced at $8 each.

Georgia James

Happy hour with a view? Yes, please! Georgia James' rooftop bar is the place to be, with $12 summer cocktails (the Summertime Spritz has gin, elderflower and sparkling rosé) and brand-new bar bites like French onion sliders. Snag these deals and more daily from 5-10pm.

Home Run Dugout

Think Top Golf, but with baseball — and add a sprawling patio, amazing food and a whiffle ball field — and you have Home Run Dugout. The Katy sports-bar-and-more has a new happy hour, available Mon.-Fri. from 3-6pm. Score discounted cocktails (honey-vanilla old fashioned, anyone?), $4 draft beers and cheap bar bites. Or come for live music from 7-11pm on weekends!

Los Tios

Kick off the week with a great deal at all locations of this Tex-Mex fave — including the brand-new one in West U! The house marg is just $5 all day on Mondays this summer.

Lulu's

This Italian resto in River Oaks has become a neighborhood go-to — and for good reason. The Bottles & Boards happy-hour special delivers a half-price bottle of bubbles and a $20 charcuterie board, and is now available from 3-6pm on the daily.

NoPo Café

Now through July 31, Berg Hospitality's NoPo Café serves a three-course dinner for just $40 per person. Add wine pairings for another $40 — it's still a steal!

Ostia

Jacob Hilton, a.k.a. Travid Halton, at home in his kitchen, where he enjoys cooking as a form of therapy.

PINK FLOYD'S THE Wall. Sinatra’s In the Wee Small Hours. Beyonce’s Lemonade. Three divergent examples of the album as a cathartic, psychological, conceptual work, meant to be experienced in a single sitting. Houston singer-songwriter Jacob Hilton, 37, who records as Travid Halton, a portmanteau of his mother and father’s names, might balk at being mentioned in such company. (This is a thoroughly unpretentious man, who describes himself as an “archaeologist turned singer-songwriter.”)

Art + Entertainment

How did you get to where you are today? The present moment is a combined history of my family, my time as an athlete, my passion for learning, and my desire to see the world be better. I grew up as a successful springboard and platform diver, however, an injury caused me to seek alternative treatments to heal my body. In that process, I discovered the power of yoga, exercise, meditation, mindset, and nutrition. This holistic approach eventually led me to open a Pilates and cycling studio called DEFINE body & mind. I opened studios around the nation, and after selling most of my business between 2017-2019, I was ready to explore how I could make an even greater impact on the wellbeing of our community. In 2023, I started actively working on a brand new multi-family/apartment concept called, Define Living. The idea focused on offering health and wellness services within a beautiful apartment setting to increase the wellbeing of our residents. Having a strong sense of community is the number one factor in living a happy life, so why not build a community where daily fitness, cooking classes, and social connection are the norm? We opened Define Living in March of 2024, and we couldn’t be happier with how things are being received. We are already looking at building more concepts like this in the Houston area and beyond.
