FOR THE SIXTH year, CityBook’s spring issue shines a spotlight on the darlings, divas and rising stars of the Houston’s diverse music scene, with special support from Douglas Elliman, Bentley Houston and The House of Creed fragrances. This year’s artists, highlighted below, include Sha Davis, Micah Edwards, Ricardo Garcia, Lisa Harris, Charlie Harrison, Isaac Khalid, Megan McCallon and Brigette Yawn.

NOW THAT SPRING has sprung, and Mother Nature is making herself known with sudden showers and plenty pollen, Houston has somehow emerged as a hub for all things oceanic. At Heidi Vaughan Fine Art, there’s still time to see Houston artist Janavi Folmsbee’s exhibit Calm Water Color Storm, featuring paintings, sculptures and lenticulars inspired by the colors of underwater marine life. And this weekend at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, the Ocean herself appears in her own, one-woman theatrical spectacle, Ocean Filibuster.

Nike Steps Into CityCentre with High-Tech New Storefront

NIKE HAS EXPANDED its retail footprint with the recent opening of Nike by CityCentre. Expect to shop popular footwear styles such as Air Force 1s, Air Max 90s, retro Jordan kicks and Jordan apparel for both men and women. Nike says Houston is one of its top markets in the United States with a high demand for Jordan products in particular.

Fall Philanthropy Report: Children’s Assessment Center Touts ‘Healing’ for Child Abuse Victims

What is your mission? The Children’s Assessment Center (The CAC) provides healing services to over 6,300 child sexual abuse victims and their families each year. We offer forensic interviewing, family advocacy, mental health services, medical care, and court services at no cost. We facilitate community outreach and prevention training to raise awareness about child abuse in our community and how to keep children safe. Last year, we provided prevention training to over 35,000 community members, including 23,500 children in schools.
